Radon Test Kits in Aurora, CO

Aurora is split across Arapahoe, Adams, and Douglas counties, so a city hall kit is not what we verified. If your Aurora home is in Arapahoe County, use Arapahoe County Public Health's free-kit request form or call 303-795-4584. Every Colorado household can also order CDPHE's free kit, one per household per year. We did not verify an Adams County or Douglas County kit program.

Arapahoe County free radon test kit

Arapahoe County Public Health offers a free radon test kit request form and the phone number 303-795-4584.

Who it is for. The page says homeowners, renters, schools, in-home daycares, and other building occupants should consider testing, and it tells you to request a free kit from the county. It does not say the kit is limited to one city.

Free

The county calls it a free test kit. It does not list a supplies cutoff or a one-per-household rule.

Use the request form linked on the county radon page, or call Arapahoe County Public Health at 303-795-4584.

The page says 48.84% of home radon tests in Arapahoe County are above 4.0 pCi/L and cites the Colorado radon data page. It also calls the county EPA Zone 1. No pickup address is given, so there is no map pin. The footer address is not treated as a kit counter.

Colorado free radon test kit

CDPHE offers a free radon test kit order, one per household per year, and a link to discounted kits.

Who it is for. One free kit per household per year.

Free

Free, one per household per year. CDPHE also links a separate discounted kit order and says store kits often cost about $10 to $50.

Order from the free-kit link on the CDPHE testing page.

CDPHE says radon is found at elevated levels in one out of every two Colorado homes. The department says it does not test your home for you. The discounted kit link on that page goes to https://sosradon.org/test-kits. We did not republish a discounted price because the CDPHE page did not list one.

EPA radon zone

EPA classifies Arapahoe County as Zone 1, its highest radon-potential category. Individual homes can vary, so testing is still the only way to know your home's level. The zone is not a claim that your house is high.

How to test, and what a result means

Place the kit the way its instructions say, and keep the house closed when the kit requires that. A short test is a screen. It is not the last word if your state wants a follow-up test.

How we check programs

Where can I get a radon test kit in Aurora?

If you live in the Arapahoe County part of Aurora, request the county's free kit. If you live in the Adams or Douglas part, we have not verified a county kit, so use CDPHE's statewide free kit, one per household per year. Do not assume every Aurora address qualifies for the Arapahoe form.

Test your home. Then help someone else test theirs.

A reusable monitor does not have to stay in one house. After you have a reading you trust for your own home, you can lend it to a parent, an adult child, a coworker, a neighbor, or a friend.

Here is an example, not a sale price. If a roughly $100 monitor is eventually used by five households, the equipment cost works out to about $20 per household. Your real price will be whatever the maker charges that day.

Lending a monitor this way does not meet a professional test or a real estate requirement. When you move the device, follow the manufacturer's instructions and start a new measurement.
