How this directory is maintained
The useful part of this site is a small set of records, not a pile of city names. A page exists when we can point you to a real program or a real access rule, with a source you can open.
Where programs come from
We prefer, in this order: a city government page, a county health department, a state radon or health agency, EPA, then a government-affiliated program. Airthings specs come from Airthings. We do not treat blogs as the source of a price.
What last verified means
Last verified is the date someone on this project opened the official page and copied only what was still there. It is not the date the agency edited its page, unless we also say that. We do not bump the date because the calendar moved. The Phase 1 records were checked on October 1, 2026.
If a record is older than six months, the page says so. Price, hours, and stock can change the next day. Confirm the official page before you drive or pay.
Unknown and unavailable
If a page says kits are paused, we say that. If a center is listed without a price, we do not invent one, and the status stays "confirm before you go." A missing city page means we have not verified a local option yet. It does not mean your town has no kit.
How EPA zones are used
County zones come from EPA's Map of Radon Zones and the county JSON EPA publishes. Zone 1 is the highest potential category. Zone 2 is moderate. Zone 3 is lower. EPA says homes with elevated radon have been found in all three zones, and that every home should be tested. A zone is not a test of your house. Where a state publishes its own testing statistic, we quote that too, with a link.
We do not publish a ranking of the worst radon cities. A priority list for research stays off the public pages.
Corrections
Use Report a change. The form opens an email. It does not update the site. A person has to check the source you send, or find a better one, before any price changes.
Affiliate relationship
Airthings links are advertisements. They use rel="sponsored". Local government options stay on the page even though they do not pay a commission. Bill reviews the testing guidance from his Illinois mitigation experience. He does not sign off on a price he did not see on an official page.
What we will not do
- Generate a page for every U.S. city.
- Rewrite one paragraph with a new city name and call it local.
- Add star ratings, fake review counts, or a LocalBusiness listing for a government office.
- Redirect MinneapolisRadonTestKit.com. That site stays up until a later, separate decision.
